Jay Z Launches New Music Streaming Service.

A lot has hype has been around the launch of Jay Z’s new music venture. With celebrities such as wife Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Manj, Kanye West and even Madonna all changing their social media display pictures to blank aqua blue and using the hashtag #TIDALforALL. Last night it was finally revealed what the venture is and not surprisingly its to do with music.

What is surprising is Jay Z’s business partner. Wait we should say partners. What was revealed was Jay Z will be launching the company with all his celeb friends as co-owners. The full list of partners is Beyonce, Rihanna, Madonna, Arcade Fire, Calvin Harris, Daft Punk, Chris Martin, Jack White, Usher, Reign Chassagne, Win Butler, Alicia Keys, Jason Aldean, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj.  Woah. The biggest names in music all owning a business together sounds like something out of a movie right? But there are still some questions to answer.

Check out Beyoncé’s other business venture!

The opening speech of the event was given by Alicia Keys who spoke about the company saying, “ today we announce of Tidal, the first ever artist-owned, global music and entertainment platform” then continuing, 'Our intent is to preserve music's importance in our lives,’ Keys said,  'Music is the language of love, of laughter, of heartbreak, of mystery. It's the world's true, true, without question, universal language.

Rihanna performs her new single!

What will the music service be? So far not much has been revealed apart from it being called the ‘first artist-owned platform for music and video’. The service will be a rival to Spotify and Apple’s soon-to-be updated music service, with the being headed by Dr Dre.  But unlike the other music services there will not be a free platform available and will cost £20 a month. Were not too sure about paying that much for music but then again we don’t know much about the service.

Wow. We can’t wait to see how this develops. Do you think you’ll be moving from Spotify to tidal? Let us know @companymagzine
