Meet Lion Babe: The Hottest Music Duo

Unless you've been living under a rock you can't help but have noticed the rising musical duo that is Lion Babe. Comprising of two parts- Jillian Hervey and Lucas Goodman, the two make amazing R&B sounds. So imagine how excited we were to check out the band live in London during their sold out gig at The Scala. Last night the packed crowd (and us) got to see the band in all their glory -this is a band that really comes alive when they perform to a live audience. Here's four reasons they are amazing and why you need to see them live ASAP, because their star is only going to keep rising.

1. Jillian Hervey's amazing hair. The seriously cool singer and real life daughter of Wilhelmina Slater in Ugly Betty has the most mesmerising hair. Last night on stage it was decked out in feathers adding to the brilliant performance. We'd love to see this band duo with Florence & The Machine at a festival this summer in full costume.

2. The sound. Fans of soulful r&b (think Jill Scott and Erykah Badu) will appreciate the depth of Jillian's voice, it's deeply soulful and carries you away with the track, feeling the full throb of emotion while you party away on the dancefloor.

3. The beats. Lucas, the Leo in the band, who inspired the name knows his beats, and last night experimented with old and new, by remixing classic 90s R&B tracks and sampling Janis Joplin - their live cover of Piece of Heart is not to be missed! But it's his original beats on their new material like Jump Hi that had us jumping in the air.

4. The costumes. Yes their tracks should be taking up space in your iTunes, but it's the live performance that makes them even more special, they love to entertain. Last night's London performance saw them both start their set with lion imprinted capes on and Jillian's Spice Girl style platform boots. It's clear they love making and performing music as much as the audience enjoying it and it was hard to tell if last night was a gig or one big party; a clear sign that this duo is set for big things in 2015!

Until their debut album drops (roll on the end of the year!), we’ve got their single Wonder Woman on repeat in the office…

We'll also be catching them at Lovebox festival this summer too!
