HANNAH
‘I loved my trumpet print dress, the print was so cool! And the gold creepers made me feel very comfortable on stage!’
FRANK'S INSPIRATION:
Hannah had a lot of running around and climbing to do this week, so we kept her in flat shoes, and leggings so she felt free and didn’t need to worry about anything! The dress was a perfect find on a last minute shop in Selfridges, - Hannah’s video screens were a brass instrument keleidescope – her dress echoed the print perfectly!

TAMERA
‘I really loved my outfit again this week! It was more relaxed and casual than what I wore last week, it was quite similar to my 80s week outfit with the leather jacket tied around my waist!’
FRANK'S INSPIRATION:
Tamera had dancers this week, so we wanted to give her a more youthful urban pop outfit, referencing Ciara. Her shorts were actually a playsuit that we chopped in two, after chopping the fingers off her crystalled gloves! The sequin vest kept things light and sparkly, - the sequins are huge and folded, really catching the light, especially once the director had popped on the starburst filter ( a styling favourite!).

SAM
‘My look this week was so glamorous and very different to my trouser-suit last week. The velvet and lace paneling on the dress still made me feel sexy even though I was covered up!’
FRANK'S INSPIRATION:
Sams lace illusion dress fitted her figure brilliantly, and made the most of her fabulous curves. The paneling looked great on her. Sharon initially wanted Sam to wear trousers, but I really felt once Ild seen Sams rehearsal that the performance needed something grander, and so I switched her last minute into this dress. The DVF trouser outfit looks amazing though, so we used it for the results show instead!

ABI
‘I think this is my favorite hairstyle I’ve had! I love the 1940s look, I want to learn how to do those waves myself! The pretty white flower matched Nicole’s and also complimented my dress really well!’
JAMIE'S INSPIRATION:
We put 1940s inspired vintage waves through Abi’s hair and worked closely with head stylist Frank to choose a nice headpiece, which complimented her dress.
This was our fave look for Abi so far, we wanted to create a Dita Von Teese meets Billie Holiday inspired look. Taking into account Abi’s individual style our aim was to make her a little bit more sassy than usual whilst keeping with a vintage edge for Big Band week!

TAMERA
‘I never really wear my hair up so I wasn’t sure I would like it at first, but I loved it! It made me feel elegant plus I think it looked good with the outfit I was wearing’
JAMIE'S INPISRATION:
It was Big Band week last week and since Tamera has had her make over she has had her hair down and wavy or down and curly. We thought it was time to try something different and put her hair up to emphasize her silhouette.
She was unsure about having it up at first so we tired it out for the dress run and she loved it!

HANNAH
‘I love big hair! And it was Big Band week so I had to go big and bouncy! I felt very glamorous this week!’
JAMIE'S INSPIRATION:
As it was Big Band week and this was the one Hannah had been most excited about we had great fun getting her ready! Once seeing her outfit and watching her rehearsal we could see that her styling was very strong and androgynous. So we thought it best to keep her hair down, making it a big and bouncy to add a womanly touch to her performance.
For this look we were inspired by Jennifer Hudson and Marylyn Monroe.

ABI
‘It was a simple look with eyeliner flicks on the eyes and a red glittery lip. The overall makeup look was a subtle, simple disco look, I still wanted to feel like myself, not too over the top disco!’
JULIA'S INSPIRATION:
For Abi’s makeup this week we were inspired by 50’s retro and gave that a disco twist to suit the week’s theme. Her overall look was simple but we made it disco by adding red glitter to her lips!

HANNAH
‘My make up last night was very glitz and glam! I had a nude lip, which didn’t take the attention away from my eyes! I had huge eyelashes and glittery eye shadow! My make up, particularly the eye shadow, complimented the outfit and made everything pop! I felt like a disco queen!’
JULIA'S INSPIRATION:
We wanted to turn Hannah into a real disco diva, a young version of Aretha Franklin! She was wearing a statement dress so we made her eyes quite dramatic; I picked out the colours in her dress and incorporated them in her eye glitter and finished her look off with a nude lip… (tip: if you have a strong eye you should always opt for a nude lip and vice versa).

TAMERA
‘My make up was so fun last night! The glitter lips were amazing; I was going around giving everyone glitter kisses! The make up complimented by big hair, I felt very Va Va Voom!’
JULIA'S INSPIRATION:
I wanted to give Tamera a fun, playful disco look, because she had big hair her makeup needed to be bold to carry off the style. And as it was Disco week we decided to go all out!

TAMERA
‘I loved my dress last night, it was really bold and different. I normally wear gold and black so it was different for me to combine silver and black but I loved it! I liked the length, it gave me more of a mature, classic look and the fit created a nice silhouette, I liked the way it shone under the lights on stage, It looked like a couture piece!’
FRANK'S INSPIRATION:
Singing such a huge ballad, she gave me goose-bumps in rehearsals, her outfit really needed to enhance her vocal powerhouse performance. We wanted to try and stay away from anything too glitzy, so the dress Tamera wore was glamorous, but also edgy with the matt silver beadwork and sheer panels. Climbing steps to on top of a piano, meant Tamera couldn’t wear anything too short, but also long dresses were tricky, and we’d already played the jumpsuit card last week! Tamera’s shoes were troubling here, but she managed until the final note before pulling them off!

HANNAH
‘My dress last night was a lot more mature and had an elegance to it, but it was still slightly edgy and that was down to the detailing. The hole in the front and the pop of gold was really cool. It was really long which made me feel elegant and glamorous which complemented the song’.
FRANK'S INSPIRATION:
I wanted to go full Bond Glamour for Hannah, I had been looking for something dramatic and bold. We switched the binding on the Ossie Clark London dress for a more metallic gold, so that the studio lights really picked out the ruffles. A nice chunky super high Topshop platform shoe, meant Hannah was stable and comfy on stage, but gave her a great column silhoette.

ABI
‘My outfit last night was a hint of the vintage era of Breakfast at Tiffany’s and was a compromise of my style and a more grown up look. It was a mixture of sleek and fun with the flowers.’
FRANK'S INSPIRATION:
I had a last minute dash to Topshop on Saturday morning. We tried on so many dresses for Abi, before we decided we wanted to go with a seperates outfit. Abi’s staging changed after her first rehearsal, which makes things a little trickier to finalise! In the end I really wanted Abi to be in a zingy colour, the show was looking quite muted, and so I went with a bright cerise pink. I love how it’s a dress, but has different layers, with a clashing coral underlay.

TAMERA
I loved it, I wanted something different, as I normally have curly or straight hair… At first I wasn’t sure about hair covering my face, it does make me look younger, but I love it and felt like a Disney princess, like a young princess Jasmine!
JAMIE'S INSPIRATION:
This week I wanted to soften Tamera’s look and draw attention to her beautiful eyes so I gave her a fringe. She’s only 16 so I think it’s important to keep her looking her age, I achieved this by giving her a half-up, half-down style with loose waves through the length.

HANNAH
‘I liked my hair last night because I always have my hair covering my face, it was a nice refreshing change with the spiraled plait on the side’
INSPIRATION:
Hannah usually wears wigs and weaves, which we love, but this week we wanted to experiment with her own hair texture to build her confidence in going eau natural.
Hannah is only 17 so I wanted to make her look her age by sweeping her hair back to show off her fresh youthful face. I incorporated her natural hair with a big plaited hairpiece, which looked stunning!

ABI ALTON
‘I wasn’t sureabout it at first, as I normally have my hair down covering my face. But it was fun to have a messy bun with the butterfly accessory, the look really came together along with my outfit and makeup, I really liked it!!’
INSPIRATION:
When deciding what to do with the contestant’s hair, I take my inspiration from the creative idea behind the performance, the song choice and the plans that the style team have for her outfit. I work closely with Frank Strachan and his team of stylists when coming up with ideas for Abi’s hair, as she often likes to wear statement hairpieces, which we need to make sure work with her overall look.
This week Abi wore a high-necked dress so I decided to put her hair up in an oversized disheveled bun to show off her beautiful neckline. We wanted the bun to be in a messy, festival style to emphasise her boho image and keep her look young and fun.

ABI ALTON
‘I loved my look last night! It had a vintagey feel and I really liked my lipstick colour.’
INSPIRATION:
With Abi’s look we wanted to achieve an ‘English rose with a twist’ - quirky and fun whilst keeping her looking fresh and classic. She has naturally gorgeous, pale skin so we kept her makeup simplistic with main focus on the lips. Fresh coral-red lips enhanced her beautiful English rose skin.

TAMERA
‘I’ve never worn such bright colours, I didn’t think I was going to like it but when it was finished I absolutely loved it!’
JULIA'S INSPIRATION:
I wanted to keep Tamera’s makeup bright and youthful. We used vibrant neon colours on her eyes and lips, inspired by a young Whitney in the ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ video.

HANNAH
'Because I have dark skin it’s hard to find eye colours that really pop, I loved the electric blue eye it made me feel edgy!’
INSPIRATION:
For Hannah we created a Grace Jones inspired look with a modern edge. We wanted her look to be colourful and fun so we have given her a very 80s electric blue smoky eye, then added a simple nude lip to keep her looking fresh and young. Just like Grace Jones she can carry off the look incredibly well!

MISS DYNAMIX
‘We think our make up was perfect for the 80s theme, we don’t usually wear such bright colours so it was fun to experiment!’
INSPIRATION:
The girls are young and vibrant so we wanted to enhance their personality and character through their make up. We went with a really simple 80s look, using the classic technique for a feline eye using neon colours like green, orange, pink and blue. To finish the look we clashed the eyeliners with neon lipstick.
