10 things you need know about Oliver Heldens

If you don’t recognize the face you will definitely recognize the track. Oliver Heldens’ “Gecko” featuring Becky Hill has to have been one of THE tracks of the summer:

A massive number 1, it’s still flying high in the top 20 having spent 6 weeks in the chart. But who is the guy behind the track? We grabbed him for a quick chat after his set at GlobalGathering and bring you the ten things you NEED to know!

1. He’s from the Netherlands… Or more specifically, from Cappelle aan den Ijssel, a small town close to Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

2. He’s just 19 years-old… Mmm, so we’ve definitely left it to late to start our super-star-DJ careers then!

3. He lives at home… With his mum and step-dad and his 2 brothers and 1 sister.

4. When he was younger he used to be a chess player… And in his bedroom he still has a lot of prizes and awards from his chess playing days. Cute!

5. He has always wanted to do something creative… Oliver told us, “I have a passion for creating things. When I was younger I wanted to become an architect or designer. And now I create music, so I’m happy!”

6. He is always hungry… And his favourite type of food is Asian.

7. He has a stutter…

8. He DJ’d at Tomorroland wearing a Gecko suit… After he posted a picture of him wearing said suit on his Facebook stating he’d DJ in it if it got 15,000 likes. It did. We <3.
