Easy petals! Back for a round two of a column that should really be called natter-with-a-talented-girl-crush-of-mine-and-how-to-jack-their-swag (not sure that really has the same ring to it?!), and this time it’s all about Elli Ingram.
Fresh from rolling with Chase and Status on their European tour (she’s also signed to their label), she’s a super sweet, straight-talking joker with a sick pair of pipes who’s on a mission to bring a big-band trumpet sound to pop and sprinkle it with street cred. Recruiting the same guy to direct her music vid as Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, AlunaGeorge and Calvin Harris, I found myself raising a smile and eyebrow at Mad Love - where she manages to make grannies living rooms and twin sets look pretty sexy while shooting gnomes.
She popped out of the studio to wax lyrical on hanging out with her girls naked in a platonic way, weird vegetarian food on tour and teaches us how to tie a head wrap - say hello to lie-in’s over washing your barnet!

If you had to, how would you describe your sound in five words?
I like to think it’s soulful -(thats six but we’ll allow her.)
When was the last time you were having lols naked, but not having sex?
Probs when I went to Ibiza at the end of August,there were definitely some naked moments with all my girlfriends just being crazy around the apartment.
What’s the biggest lie you’ve ever told?

I still haven't been caught out on that so I couldn't possibly tell you. Mwhaha
Mad love, sounds like it’s about a guy that your pals aren’t really feeling, right?
Exactly. It’s about falling for the bad guy, I think a baddie is something that quite a lot of guys seem to be attracted to. And that’s sort of the vibe, I know I’m one to fall for the wrong guy... so I wrote the tune Mad Love. I kind of hope he’s listening to it now.

Ohlike.com has to be one my faves. It selects a bunch of amazing pieces of clothing and accessories and when you see something you like you can select it and it takes you to where you can buy it from. It's a sick way to discover new clothing and designers. Some of it is mad pricing, but there no harm in looking eh!
What would you be doing if you had a proper job?
I think I’d probably still be working in the tea rooms just down the road from my house where I worked for six years, I made a mean latte dah-ling! Career wise - probs something to do with cooking or fashion?
... oh any inspirational snacks then?
I have a weird addiction to mashing all my food together. Like if we’re dealing with some salmon, maybe new potato’s and salad I just mash it all together, squirt a load of ketchup on and a bit of mayonnaise and then just chow it down with a fork. I have a bit of a sauce addiction…
I’m a veggie - and they give you the most random stuff in catering on tour - like in Germany, dinner was a massive deep fried vegetable spring roll with mash potato and gravy and it’s just like... WTF?!
You’ve been touring with Chase and Status who are known for their serious hyping abilities, how do you get a party started?
Probs start with a lil naughty cocktail - make a little gin punch to get going – and just go from there. A good party is when people are drunk... so just do that and go from there really!
Who is your go-to for some company and why?
Probs my best mate Joanne, she’s a good listener.
